Revisioning the Operatic Canon

My current work has had a measurable effect on colleagues and students who were feeling that they could no longer justify continuing to focus on canonic repertoire, as in the doctoral student who was grateful for my workshop because ‘Now I feel like I can stay in musicology,’ and the professor who revealed after my keynote, ‘I thought I would have to stop using canonic works as examples in my teaching, but now I can keep it relevant.’ Indiana University, March 25-26, 2022:
